I am a freelance designer with over 25 (that's right, a quarter century) years of experience in the graphic design industry.

I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree when computers were still the size of large rooms and programmers were sorting punch cards to get them to do anything. I've never been a programmer, and I have no interest in becoming one; but I've always enjoyed working with images and learning the software necessary to create and manipulate them.

I'll admit that when I first started I was waxing type and images and laying them out on art boards to create camera-ready copy to go to press. That was when there were real "typesetters," and the internet was something that only the U.S. government knew about.

It's amazing how quickly things have changed in the graphics industry...and how the industry continues to change. It's because of this that I've continued my education, both on my own and by taking college courses specifically in regard to web design and web design software.

My history–my experience–provides a foundation to better understand the "why" and not just the "how" of graphics, and my background provides the interpersonal skills necessary when communicating with my clients to understand their needs.
